A Legacy Born in 1938, Reborn in 2025
In 1938, Assunta "Nona" Serafini and her husband Eduardo opened a small Italian restaurant built on scratch cooking, warm hospitality, and recipes passed hand-to-hand through generations. For nearly 60 years, Serafini's was owned and solely operated by the Serafini family, becoming a beloved cornerstone of Erie's dining scene.
In 1995, the restaurant was sold outside the family and continued under different ownership for 25 years. But the recipes, the traditions, and the dream never left the Serafini family.
In 2025, Serafini's came home. Amanda Serafini, a fourth-generation Serafini and great-granddaughter of the original founders, reopened the restaurant in a new historical location in downtown Erie. The recipes served today at the Trattoria come directly from the last generation of Serafinis who owned and operated the restaurant before it was sold, preserved by the family themselves and shared to the next generation to carry the legacy forward.
